Whilst speaking to a few friends and family members over the last few weeks I have realised that I am not alone in the way I am feeling:
- Lethargic
- Irritable
- A loss of interest and enjoyment in normal everyday activities
- Feeling guilty
- Low self esteem
- Feeing stressed or anxious
It seems there are more of us experiencing negative emotions recently than we realise. Do more of us experience SAD (Seasonal affective disorder) than we think?
We all have our own reasons to feel this way from various experiences we are going through, however we all seem to be failing to actually be doing something to help ourselves… so this got me thinking, why?
Why don’t we ever take our wellbeing serious enough? Why don’t we make time in our busy schedules to care for ourselves?
We all make changes in our home to prepare for different seasons, by decorating with our favourite accessories. Why don’t we prepare our minds for the seasonal changes too?
So, I ask you this, what one thing can you do this month for you?
Here’s 10 of my favourite ideas:
- Less screen time – Ensuring to turn off the screen at least 1 hour before bedtime
- Book time in your diary for you! It can be as little as 5 minutes for the perfect cuppa or hot chocolate in my case to begin with
- Be proactive, make a To Do list, keep it realistic, you don’t want to fail before you begin. Enjoy ticking it off as you go
- Play your favourite song on loud, listen to the lyrics, feel the rhythm and dance. You never know someone may join you
- Stick to a schedule, especially when it comes to bedtime. This makes a huge difference on your overall health; remember we all need beauty sleep!
- Get moving, take yourself on that walk around the block, use the stairs, get off the bus one step earlier and park your car further away than you need to. Get those steps in.
- Participate in an activity and catch up with a friend(s)
- Add aromatherapy and essential oils to your routine, the benefits are endless… eases stress, anxiety and depression. Boosts relaxation, improves sleep and helps improve your quality of life to name a few. Treat yourself to some Neal’s Yard products here
- Meditate. If you haven’t tried this already, give it a go… Breath in…. and out!
- Grab a loved one, a friend or a even your favourite teddy or cushion and simply have a CWTCH!
Middle Cwtch….. Go on treat yourself!
