A seaside resort based in the town of Barry, South Wales. Also the home of Gavin & Stacey. A place that we’ve loved to visit all our lives. We hold so many memories which include this destination. Here’s a snippet to a few of them:
Organised day trips by mum to Butlins, to enjoy the swimming pool, entertainment and holiday vibe yet only being a short drive from home.
Sandcastle competitions, picnics on the beach and a dip in the sea. Sandwiches that got filled with sand (surely this is how they came up with the name sandwiches)
Metal detecting on the beach to find hidden treasure.
Sunday afternoon drives to spend our pocket money on the 2p slot machines, a game of bingo at what’s now know as Nessa’s slots, to exchange our winning tokens for prizes.
Roller blading across the front and even roller disco when we were old enough.
Riding the donkeys on the beach and the dotto train across the whole stretch of the island.
Screaming our way around the Pleasure park, with various rides, getting soaked on the log flume then drying off on the rollercoaster.
Walks on the dog friendly beach with our dogs. This beach is Sparkys favourite! He even has his very own rock pool.
Barry Island is also the place where Big cwtch went on her first date with her husband 🤫🥰
Come rain or shine, you’ll be sure one of us has paid a visit to Barry Island. Not forgetting Sausage & Chips to finish each day off.
