Life is a journey

What a cliché! Twice in the last 24 hours this phrase has entered my life with a new perspective.

Firstly I re read a book (The Happiness Hypothesis- Jonathan Haidt) and the second came in a resilience workshop at work. Both times the I saw the phrase “Life is a journey” in a new light…Who am I travelling with? Have a planned a route? Do I have a map? Do I know what direction I want to go in?

These may be obvious points to you but I’d always taken that phrase at face value- it’s not where you end up (destination) but to enjoy the journey. What if I knew where I wanted to go and the route I wanted to take? What positive impact would that have on my life?

Enjoying the journey works for me, I try and find the positives in all I do and always grow from my experiences. I enjoy discussing the power of positive thinking with my sisters and they’re often my sounding boards for plans. I’m looking forward to mapping a route out and trying to gain from this perspective.

I’ve added one of my favourite train photos here, whilst the track is completely straight (it’s the line at Penally station) any path which involves trains and travelling with my husband and family is a perfect journey for me – I just need to check out a few more timetables and do a bit of route planning – a throw back to my days working for National Rail Enquiries!
